pot with bones and bone broth

Beef Bone Broth

I’ve always heard great things about the health benefits of bone broth, and I love steak and bone marrow. It only seemed fitting to use the scraps.

Active Time: 5 min

Ingredients:

Beef bones
Beef scraps/fat (optional)
Salt
Spices (I like garlic and onion)
Water

Steps:

  1. Fill a crockpot or slow cooker half full of bones and scraps and spread them out
  2. Generously sprinkle salt and spices into the crockpot
  3. Fill crockpot just enough to cover bones
  4. Set crockpot to low and let it go for 18-24 hours – the higher the water-to-bone ratio, the longer it should go
  5. You can consume immediately or let it refrigerate and gelatinize, using the layer of fat on top for later cooking
