Caring too much

We care what the people in our inner circles think about us, our decisions, our successes, our failures and most of what we do. There is enormous value in this, especially when those close to us are respectable, wise and have our best interests in mind.

But those who have these admirable qualities nevertheless speak out of turn from time to time, or with little thought as to the implications of their words. It isn’t always easy to know when this is happening but it is worth learning to become more discerning of such instances.

Caring too much is little more than a disease. It won’t kill you, but it won’t let you truly live, either.
