Eyes of a child

It is easy to take for granted all that we have and all that we should cherish. In the United States we have rights and freedom unprecedented in human history.

It is even easier, though, to take for granted the smaller things in life.

This morning, I got my daughter out of bed and let my wife sleep. For some reason, Kennedy wanted to go play in the basement where there isn’t much to do, at least in my mind, for a two-year-old. We played around for a few minutes on a beanbag and a cheap electric keyboard. Then some microphones that we have setup caught her eye – so I plugged in my computer, hit record and we sang “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” about 15 times.

She loved the headphones and hearing herself in the microphone. She loved sitting on my lap. She loved singing. It was all so simple but so perfect for her.

The eyes of a child are the most pure and unfiltered lens through which we can see the beauty of this world.
