Playgrounds

On one of our morning walks last week, my daughter hopped off her scooter in her usual spot – an “island” of grass and sidewalk in the middle of a cul-de-sac in our subdivision. She likes to run around and jump off of the curb at this particular place. She does it over and over and over.

On this particular morning, she stopped and looked up at me.

“Dada, I love this playground!”

I see a patch of grass and some concrete to walk on. She sees a place of exploration, adventure and fun.

When I step back and think about it, our whole world is a playground. Our homes, our offices, the places we eat, the places we go for entertainment, the airport – any place is a place you can be present and grow and enjoy and learn something. The miracles of blue skies and sunsets, beaches and mountains, thunderstorms and snowfall are but backdrops for this great big playground.

Wherever I am and wherever I go, I am going to start looking for the playground. It is right there, just waiting to be seen.
