Time and focus

I no longer believe that time is our most precious asset in life.

When my brother and I started our business in 2019, it was a roller coaster of emotions. There was excitement, stress, anticipation, adventure and disappointment, sometimes within a matter of hours.

During the first six months or so of our business, the only thing I could focus intently on was work. Time with family, friends, “relaxing” or otherwise was all done with my business at the forefront of my mind. My daughter probably didn’t know it, but she was sharing my attention with a thousand thoughts about how to make our business go, what we needed to do to close certain deals and how we’d manage an influx of new customers.

I was spending time with my daughter, but it was of little relational value. Is time spent in this manner the precious commodity of which we speak so highly?

I now believe that the marriage of time and focus is our most precious asset in life. Time without the ability to focus on what is right before us is worthless. Having the strength of mind to focus solely on what is before us unlocks the keys to this amazing gift of life.
