What we regret
It is often said that we don’t regret the things we did in life, but rather the things we didn’t do. I’ll say that for me at least, this is true.
I don’t regret the woman I married, the friends I’ve made, the college I went to, the neighborhood I live in. I don’t regret much of anything I’ve truly done.
But I often regret the time I didn’t spend with people that I never should have let out of my lives. I regret adventures that I declined for reasons I can’t remember. I regret the things I waited to do only to find that the moment had passed.
I don’t dwell on my regrets often but they sure have a way of bringing today into focus. If you’re like me, you’re about to say “no” to something, to someone or to a road less traveled. Most of the time, there is a little voice telling us not to miss the opportunity. Before you start walking the other way, be sure that your heart and your feet are on the same page.
